Job Description
The Material Handler (Forklift Operator) coordinates inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure the efficient flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods. This role involves inventory management, warehousing, and transportation activities to support production schedules and customer demands. The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining accuracy in all material handling activities while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Logistics Coordination:
- Manage the transportation and storage of raw materials, component parts, and finished goods.
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistical operations, including inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
Material Handling:
- Operate forklifts to move materials within the plant, including production areas, hot rooms (up to 110°F), and during loading/unloading of trucks.
- Ensure accurate receiving, locating, and dispatching of goods for optimal inventory flow.
Inventory Control:
- Administer inventory control systems to track material flow and maintain precise records.
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels to align with production schedules and minimize surplus or shortages.
Quality and Safety Compliance:
- Conduct quality checks on materials and shipments, promptly addressing any issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while strictly adhering to safety guidelines.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Assist with troubleshooting customer complaints, shipping discrepancies, and inventory issues.
- Provide relief for breaks, housekeeping duties, and other operational needs as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or logistics is highly preferred.

Skills & Certifications:
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy in materials handling and recordkeeping.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including exposure to hot conditions (up to 110°F).

Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing at least 25 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of prolonged sitting or standing as required by operational tasks.
- Proficient in operating forklifts and related equipment.
- Ability to turn and visually monitor surroundings when driving in reverse.
- Comfortable with extended periods of screen use for tasks such as inventory management or equipment monitoring, with or without accommodation.
- Vision: Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing: Sufficient auditory ability to respond to equipment signals, alarms, and verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
