Role Summary:
The Team Performance Leader (TPL) is primarily responsible for ensuring the High-Performance Work Teams meet safety, quality, and production expectations. This role will also be responsible for meeting continuous improvement objectives and ensuring that operators are well trained. The role will monitor team performance and follow appropriate procedures when an individual or team is not meeting goals in safety, quality, and productivity. To function as the floor leader for team development and communications.
Shift work: 8-hour shifts – 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm / 10pm-6am, rotating with occasional meeting.
What you will do:
- Support Print, Extrusion and Conversion departments
- Supports teams to ensure goals for safety, quality, on-time complete, and productivity are met. Responsible for meeting continuous improvement objectives and operators are well trained and following standard work practices
- Quality: Proactively takes actions to minimise scrap, spoilage, customer returns, and directs teams to ensure that quality indicators are tracked and up to date
- Operations: Audit machine conditions/speeds, productivity, and overall effectiveness. Lead and direct teams to ensure proper line balancing, staffing, and take appropriate action to meet business needs
- Identify training gaps and utilise SPL’s (Single Point Lessons) to close gaps
- Prepare and lead daily Focus 5 production meetings
- Develop team maturity: Coach and counsel teams through expectations and goals, ensure effective team communications, and provide direction as needed
- Assist management in assessing individual and team performance
- Directs individuals and/or teams regarding immediate actions when necessary to meet Safety, Quality, or Productivity measures
- Coach teams to ensure effective long-term improvements, SPL’s,and other standard work expectations are met
- Function as a key communicator which includes both internal and external communications regarding critical issues impacting department performance
- Provides expertise or arrange resources for training, standards, Single Point Lessons (SPLs), etc.
- Ensures that work is accomplished accurately and safely by team members
- Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) rules are followed
- Acts as a role model to team members and be recognised as a leader. Motivates, supports, and responds to the people and needs that support operational success.
What you will need:
- Experience operating equipment in target area preferred – Print, Extrusion or Conversion machinery
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Ability to drive improvement and productivity expectations
- Positive performance and work history
- Ability to hold others accountable
- Ability to effectively direct the activity of others
- Strong ability to communicate effectively (verbally & written)
- Basic computer skills (primarily email and MS Excel)
- Strong organisational abilities
- Self-motivated for setting priorities and completing work assignment
