Position Summary

SEE (Sealed Air) India is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Design for a new product development for the packaging industry to join our Indian R&D Team.

In addition to the development of new product solutions, this role is tasked with supporting our base of business by training, troubleshooting, and communicating the performance of our solutions to both internal stakeholders and our customers.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for using heightened curiosity to develop test plans, conduct fitness-for-use testing, practice good project management skills, communicate results and make expert recommendations on path forward to customers, their team, and key stakeholders.  This individual will also be responsible for engaging with equipment and materials team, field support and sales, customer service, and supply chain to ensure existing products continue to meet the high standards of Sealed Air Corporation. 

What does a Mechanical Engineer - Design do?

  • Creating engineered custom designed solutions, which will protect products during their distribution cycle from point of manufacture through to the receipt by the end customer.
  • Identifying new technologies and solutions within organization or by scouting external partners which helps to product our customer products.
  • Carry out package and materials performance testing.
  • Creating reports relating to the performance of engineered solutions
  • Liaising with the fabricators / converters / end users with regards to their products on a regular basis, interpreting their needs and act accordingly. 
  • Collaborating with other Regional Packaging Labs across region as well as global, exchanging design/solution ideas
  • Engineering drawings using Solid Works CAD system, also demonstrating solutions in 2D and 3D
  • Daily monitoring of project activity, making sure deadlines/expectations are being met.
  • Health & Safety in the workplace, good housekeeping rules both in and out of the office area
  • Up-keep technical skills on designs and design technologies 
  • Work directly with customers to support business and proactively transfer unmet customer needs into innovations.

What are we looking for in you?

  • B. Tech or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Advance degree in Engineering and relevant design skills are preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D
  • Experience in AutoCAD, or Solid works is a must.
  • Flexible travel domestically and internationally
  • Expertise on creating data-driven technical reports and communicate the same to stake holders. 
  • Ability to effectively present concepts and ideas
  • Experience in managing multiple projects, often with competing deadlines
  • Highly motivated, self-initiator, creative, and customer orientated individuals
  • Project management is a plus but not a must to have requirements.
  • R&D Experience in Packaging design with MPP (molded paper pulp) exposure would be highly preferred.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic.
