What does an Automation Engineer do?

Design, implementation, and optimization of process control systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and scalability in industrial operations.

Why we need you?

  • Manage automation in capital projects: Oversee the architecture, control strategies, software development, testing, and commissioning of automation systems, ensuring smooth project flow from concept to execution.
  • Develop technical specifications: Create detailed specifications for new equipment, safety upgrades, and obsolescence management to support robust and future-ready systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with R&D, Process Engineers, Buyers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Standardize processes: Contribute to the development of reusable guidelines and standards, ensuring alignment with the company's culture and global best practices.
  • Optimize control systems: Design systems that are faster to install, easier to duplicate, and aligned with Industry 4.0, including innovations in network architecture, remote assistance, and historian tools.
  • Commission production lines: Lead the commissioning of new systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements and perform efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance and safety: Integrate CE Directives, risk assessment methodologies, PL calculations, and safety designs into all projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: Engineering degree, preferably in Automation or a related field.
  • Experience in industrial process control systems, from design to commissioning.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, B&R).
    • Strong understanding of CE Directives, Risk Assessment, PL calculations, and Safety Design.
    • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic diagrams.
    • Knowledge of Network architecture, Industry 4.0 principles, and tools.
    • Expertise in writing technical specifications and manuals.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong project management, relationship-building, and communication skills.
    • Teamwork and results-oriented mindset.
    • Time management and prioritization capabilities.
    • High self-motivation, curiosity, and a vision for future improvements.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Fluent in English.
    • Willingness to travel within EMEA and occasionally beyond, including extended periods during project installation and commissioning.
