Job Description
The Performance Improvement Leader (“PIL”) is responsible for driving operational excellence through the deployment of Lean Manufacturing and structured problem-solving methodologies across the site. This person serves as a Lean champion who leads cross-functional teams to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives, while fostering a culture of accountability, employee engagement, and sustainable performance for the plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the deployment of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement strategies across the facility
- Serve as the site's Lean champion, promoting a culture of operational excellence and structured problem-solving
- Lead and facilitate Kaizen events, improvement workshops, and value stream improvement initiatives
- Apply and coach Lean and Six Sigma methodologies including DMAIC, 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, SMED, Kanban, Error Proofing, Root Cause Analysis, and other continuous improvement tools
- Coach leaders, Team Performance Leaders (TPLs), and cross-functional teams in Lean principles, problem-solving techniques, and standard work
- Attend Daily Integration meetings to partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other functional teams to solve problems and implement sustainable process improvements
- Track, communicate, and report continuous improvement project progress, financial impact, KPI performance, and initiative results to site leadership
- Audit processes and standards to ensure improvements are sustained
- Share best practices and lessons learned across departments and throughout the network to support operational excellence
- Conduct Lean principles training as needed
- Build organizational capability by developing problem-solving skills and continuous improvement competencies throughout the workforce
- Lead structured problem-solving efforts to address operational challenges and eliminate recurring issues
- Develop electronic tools to aid in the automation of production data collection and analysis
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, continuous improvement, or a related environment
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, teams, and/or continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong communication, leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Self-directed, highly organized, and capable of delivering results with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement training
- Experience facilitating Kaizen events and deploying Lean Manufacturing systems
- Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams
- Understanding of manufacturing financial metrics, operational KPIs, and business performance drivers
- Experience with Power BI, SAP, Power Apps, or similar business systems and analytics tools
- Programming experience using SQL, Python or similar
