About the role
- The Process & Equipment Engineer (PE) will work to optimise the operations by implementing and maintaining process controls maximise safety, quality and profitability. You will be focussed on business improvement, process technologies and delivering improvements in customer quality and efficiencies.
- With an understanding of the overall process, the PE will identify areas of loss and opportunities and then deliver value to the business.
- Actively identify and participate in process & equipment improvements and monitor improvements/solutions in the plant post implementation in support of Operational Excellence program.
- Process & equipment scope of responsibility include every production asset (Extrusion, Slitting, Printing, Conversion, Utilities)
- Lead or participate to investment projects.
- Production equipment maintenance planning
Scope: Porirua site and adjoining supply chain. Can be requested to provide occassionally support to Auckland Sealed Air site.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a culture of safety first always, including participating in hazard assessments, safety shop floor observations, wearing appropriate PPE, report all incidents, near misses and cooperate in accident investigations and supporting procedural updates and implementation where required.
- Develop processes to be trouble free and strive for ensure success every time (zero defects, zero unfavourable variances).
- Troubleshooting technical issues when production and quality experience exhausted. Support team with escalated trouble shooting including on more complicated issues and working to analyse and resolve processing problems in a structured manner.
- Owns Loss Analysis of the Line/s and engages the line team in loss analysis, deploying loss elimination targets, and manages loss elimination activities of the line working the line teams.
- Through analysis and co-ordination of wider business resources achieve agreed targets in reduction of; waste, yield optimization (end-to-end), efficiencies process improvements, recovery of waste, sustainability improvements etc.
- Identify process bottlenecks and develop improvements to maximise product yield, minimise operational costs and customer impact.
- Day to day creation and allocation of jobs to Maintenance staff in conjunction with priorities set by Group Maintenance Leader
- Using Six Sigma or similar methodology and a close liaison with operations, lead cross functional teams to deliver results.
- Backup role for utilities equipment & buildings activities
- Write/present/publish reports on findings and outcomes as required to support wider business engagement and improvement.
Qualifications
- Engineering/technical and/or Chemical/plastics degree
- Six sigma training or similar methodology
- Knowledge/exposure with Statistical process control (SPC), Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and Root cause analysis (RCA)
- Ability to participate and manage multiple projects and priorities on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization.
