Job Description

The Production Manager is dedicated to maintaining and improving the capability of the Ashland manufacturing facility to safely deliver the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost through, the use of effective manufacturing methods.  

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
•    Accountable for scrap, efficiency, and quality.
•    Monitors performance and progress on the production floor and utility department.
•    Meet with leadership team and production staff daily to discuss production, materials, machine problems, scheduled change over, staffing needs, etc.
•    RACI driven (enforced and maintains standards, and is focused on accountability)
•    Ensures KPI’s are tracked and goals are maintained.
•    Gemba focused manager
•    Ensure maintenance and technical issues are being addressed to optimize performance.
•    Ensure that equipment, materials, and manpower are available, as required, to meet business needs.
•    Ensure that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective product is reported to be appropriately destroyed or placed on hold for Inventory/Quality Control employee to review. 
•    Provides technical guidance and hands on assistance when essential to teach.
•    Responsible for determining overtime needs by assessing orders provided by the Production Scheduler.
•    Collects and documents data regarding bag production.
•    Ownership of the site sanitation schedule.
•    Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree preferred or 3-5 years equivalent manufacturing leadership experience.

 

Experience: Lean, Six sigma, Kaizen, 5S, or similar programs around continuous improvement. Minimum 3 years supervisory experience and 3-5 years of experience in the packaging industry.

 

Specific Skills: Ability to read and interpret standard tape measures. Good interpersonal relationship skills and management mindset. Experience with inventory controls and ERP system knowledge.

 

Equipment & Machinery:  Possess good troubleshooting and mechanical skills. 

 

Computer Experience & Software:  Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Oracle, and WMS. Familiar with process improvement tools, including pareto, root cause analysis, flow charting, histograms, control charts.

 

Other Requirements:  Ability to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision.  Lock Out Tag Out qualified.
