Summary of the Role

Reporting to the HR Operations Director, Asia, the HR PMO & Process Improvement Manager, Asia will be a key part of the global HR Project Management Organization responsible for managing key HR projects for the company, and be responsible for directly managing project plans, timelines, identifying and resolving project issues and preparing updates for executive meetings specific to the Asia region. In addition, this individual will be responsible for HR continuous improvement initiatives for the region and developing and supporting ongoing efforts for the development and adoption of global HR best practices.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Overseeing and providing project management leadership focused towards process improvement and delivery of key HR initiatives – ensuring project needs are fully understood and executed within project scope (schedule, budget, etc).
  • Facilitating the ongoing education, communication, and awareness of the Project Management policy, principles and standards for various stakeholder groups to ensure standardized and consistent application and implementation enterprise-wide.
  • Developing strong working relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate alignment and integration of PMO objectives in business-driven initiatives
  • Preparing and facilitating regular project team meetings that require coordination and integration of activities across functional and global work streams and teams; engaging leaders regularly and maintaining communications necessary to confirm project teams’ ability to meet milestones; actively managing and measuring the progress of those activities.
  • Utilizing project management experience and methodologies to proactively "anticipate" risk and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and plans; Using change management skills and knowledge to effectively plan and ensure adoption, including preparing and/or approving communications.
  • Ensuring project issues and risks are appropriately quantified and managed, also ensuring assumptions and constraints are appropriately communicated and escalated when necessary (including any attestations as required on an annual basis).
  • Implementing smooth, speedy and efficient workflows in all areas of HR within the region that promote successful delivery and adoption of key initiatives and best practices.
  • Working with HR leaders, processes owners, and HR staff resources to maintain, engage, develop and review and improve current HR-related practices – striving for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Researching and maintaining HR knowledge and awareness related to industry trends and external impacts to the company.
  • Ensuring all project and process improvement initiatives related to M&A and divestiture activities meet all requirements for due diligence, are integrated and implemented successfully, and are aligned to the company’s philosophy on the manager and employee experience.
  • Business travel (as required).

Key deliverables for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Developing a 2-3 year strategic roadmap for the Asia HR in alignment with the global HR PMO strategy which will ensure a sustainable planned approach to evolving the PMO function over time, including but not limited to:
  1. Assessing strategic alternatives relative to PMO group, HR, and Global Strategy objectives.
  2. Ensuring business cases are built to warrant the company’s investment.
  3. Overseeing strategic plans to ensure buy-in and adoption across HR and other key stakeholders as required.
  • Leading alignment to the Operational Excellence COE in driving the operational excellence culture and tools throughout the Asia HR team so they become better at process improvements on their own; as part of this, helping teams develop KPIs for tracking process improvements.

Key Requirements

Professional Experience:

  • 8+ years of directly related work experience within HR with at least 2+ years of project management
  • Prior project management experience should include leading an end to end large-scale HR project from conception through delivery and adoption.
  • Prior experience working in a multi-location regional or global role focused on supporting HR process improvements.

Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of project AND change management concepts and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead effective and sustainable large scale HR projects from conception to delivery and adoption.
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to promoting HR process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across functions and communicate effectively with senior business leaders, as well as other professionals and colleagues at all levels of an organization.
  • Acute business acumen, strong analytical skills, and the ability to understand and interpret industry trends and best practices.
  • Exceptional judgment and ability to quickly assess business challenges, make timely, pragmatic recommendations under pressure, and identify, prioritize, and resolve issues quickly and independently.
  • Ability to influence and drive project deliverables according to project scope, timelines, and budgets
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, innovative, and highly-matrixed corporate organization

Education, Certification(s) and Language(s):

  • Bachelors’ degree within business, technology or a field focused on Human Resources and Project Management.
  • Graduate degree in business, technology, or a field related to Human Resources, Project Management, or Process Improvement
  • Certification in HR, Project Management or Process Improvement (i.e. - SHRM, PMP, Six Sigma)
  • Proficiency in multiple languages; English – required; Chinese, Japanese highly preferred.
