Summary

Our Supply Chain Engineering division is growing and were looking for our next class of designers! This mechanical designer will be responsible for the design of process equipment in any of the manufacturing plants.  Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of machine design experience with production equipment.   The work will include development of new process equipment as well as modifications / retrofits to existing production equipment.  

Responsibilities

•    Proven and proficient machine design skills using both 3D and 2D platforms.  This candidate must be able to work alone or in a team environment with engineer(s) and other designer(s) to identify, formulate, and implement design solutions. 
•    Support the Installation, checkout, and startup of manufacturing equipment in any of the Sealed Air manufacturing plants
•    Generate and document all elements of the equipment design packages 
•    Must be able to collaborate with multi-discipline teams consisting of engineering, EH&S, management, internal customers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure solutions are cost effective and meet the desired design criteria.
•    Apply strong technical skills to all facets of the project to include planning and solution development, equipment specification and procurement, machine design, generate process layouts and onsite startup support.
•    Provide basic project scope, schedule, and cost estimates for assigned projects
•    Identify / evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into the existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
•    Domestic and international travel required.

Qualifications

•    5 years of machine design and process layout experience
•    Strong and creative machine design skills
•    Excellent 3D modeling skills (SolidWorks preferred) and ability to generate 2D process equipment layouts (primarily Draftsight or equivalent)
•    Experience with process flow, chilled water systems, and P&ID diagrams preferred.
•    Working knowledge of MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project)
•    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, take initiative and drive for results to exceed customer expectations.
•    Hands on experience & ability to work with contractors to install & startup process equipment a plus
•    Work experience in plastic packaging or extrusion processes a plus
•    Experience with material (resin) storage and conveying systems, and material handling systems a plus
•    Procurement experience with SAP a plus
EDUCATION 
•    Minimum requirement - Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
