Job Description

 

 

To convert and inspect mill logs into finished rolls in a safe and orderly manner at maximum rates and yields, while maintaining a quality level.

Responsibilities

 

  • Operate the Slitter(s) at a speed optimum to delivery of the highest rate, yield, and quality. (Slitter rewind speed range 600 fpm to 2,000 fpm), maintains hour by hour boards to ensure data is accurate and posted on board each hour of production and inspects film to ensure that outgoing product meets the customer’s fitness for use standards and ensure film is correctly identified.
  • Performs set-up and changeovers on Slitter(s) as required by the production area and production schedule. Monitors machine conditions and adjusts machine conditions as necessary to meet productivity, safety and quality goals. Provides accurate and timely reporting of all quality and productivity data into the SAP system. (Operator must be proficient at entering data into multiple systems on different reporting screens. Obtains samples for quality determination and testing purposes when requested.
  • Responsible for associated auxiliary equipment (Hoist, unloading tree, etc.), assists maintenance or the overhaul crew when needed and communicates when factors affecting quality, safety, or output appears to be out of control.
  • Maintains excellent housekeeping practices in his/her area and thoroughly cleans the equipment when Slitter is shut down. Maintains tools and equipment on the Slitter Tool boards and cleaning stations.
  • Actively participates in the High Performance Work Teams while taking on a resource roles for one of the responsible areas: Quality, Customer Service, Human Resources, EHS/PFS, Lean/20 Keys, Process Improvement, TPM and Training. As a team member meeting continuous improvement objectives and ensuring the successful communication and performance of the teams are required.

 

Qualifications

 

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Requires basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Computer knowledge and 1-2 years of Windows applications experience preferred
  • Flexibility within a high performance work environment
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
  • Able to work without close supervision
  • Able to follow instructions and make decisions based on data obtained
