What does a Maintenance Supervisor do?
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating all maintenance operations, aligning team efforts with the priorities of the Production, Planning, and Process teams. They oversee Maintenance KPIs, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the team has the necessary resources, training, and tools to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, enabling smooth production. By coaching and assessing team leaders, fostering transparency, and creating a supportive environment, the Maintenance Supervisor promotes team development while exemplifying SEE’s core values and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction and interdepartmental communication.

- Develop and Maintain a Vision and Roadmap: Create and update short- and long-term goals for the Maintenance Department, focusing on KPI management, cost control, succession planning, and team development. Skills: Strategic planning, goal-setting, and organizational development.
- Analyze and Improve Maintenance KPIs: Generate, monitor, and act on maintenance data, engaging other departments to drive improvements and meet targets. Skills: Analytical thinking, cross-departmental collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Identify and Reduce Operational Waste: Regularly assess areas like downtime, scraps, and spare-part usage, implementing plans to improve efficiency. Skills: Waste reduction, process improvement, and root cause analysis.
- Cost Management: Control maintenance spending by ensuring efficient use of resources and competitive supplier pricing. Skills: Budget management, negotiation, and cost optimization.
- Shift from Corrective to Preventive Maintenance: Investigate opportunities to transition from reactive to proactive maintenance practices. Skills: Preventive maintenance strategies, innovation, and foresight.
- Team Development and Training: Assess and execute training plans for the maintenance crew, while conducting regular one-on-ones and performance reviews with team leaders. Skills: Leadership, coaching, and employee development.
- Supplier and Contractor Management: Develop suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery and manage third-party contractors for maintenance services. Skills: Supplier management, contract negotiation, and relationship building.
- Foster a Collaborative and Safe Work Environment: Monitor absenteeism, optimize team schedules, and promote teamwork and safety across departments. Skills: Team collaboration, safety management, and adaptability.

- Budget Management Skills: Experience managing maintenance-related expenses.
- Technical Expertise: Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma qualification is an advantage.
- Contractor Management: Familiarity with coordinating external contractors and services.
