POSITION SUMMARY:

Starting Pay: $19.25 but experienced pay $23.00

Under the direction of the Team Performance Leader, the Press operator is responsible for the safe operation of flexographic printed presses to produce material which meets current quality standards at optimum rates and yields.  This responsibility includes the performance of those tasks necessary to achieve proper press operation, such as:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Correctly build up production orders and doctor blade assemblies
•    Change and match inks for production
•    Load and unload material from the presses using defined equipment
•    Install/remove press cylinders, sleeves and anilox rolls as required for each production order.
•    Set-up and print all formulations for bags product line.
•    Perform all required quality checks to ensure a product can be processed at the next stage of the manufacturing process.
•    Follow all safety rules and procedures.
•    Assist maintenance and process technician in troubleshooting.
•    Follow the production schedule as issued by shift TPL.
•    Provide adequate turnover to the shift oncoming shift.
•    Coordinate special projects as they are assigned
•    Break out operators for lunches/breaks and fill in where/when required 
•    Safely lift up to 40 pounds of solvent and ink buckets.
•    Follow all applicable EHS, Quality and Food Safety procedures and protocols, and reports any incident to his/her supervisor.
•    Complete all EHS, Quality and Food Safety applicable training.
•    Support implementation of the Quality and Food Safety program and comply with the expectations if this role is included as part of the Food Safety or Internal Audit team.
•    Manufactures sufficient quantities of quality products to meet marketplace demand. Set up machines to fulfill production orders-Follows procedures to set up standard operating conditions by utilizing HMI (Human Machine Interface). Troubleshoots issues related to the machinery to safely produce quality products for the customer. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Ability to pass a hue and color vision assessment.
  • Able to work without close supervision and instruct others as necessary.
  • Able to follow instructions and make decisions based on data obtained.
  • Computer knowledge and 1-2 years of Windows applications experience preferred.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalency
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail are desired.
•    Ability to pass training retirements to become qualified on one or all machine production lines.
•    Must have good communication skills both personal and via Email
•    Must have outstanding troubleshooting skills
•    Must have good judgment with decision making regarding Safety and Quality.
•    Ability to complete production related documentation on both computer and paper forms
•    Must have excellent team skills
•    Ability to take direction from several individuals
•    Ability to work additional overtime if required to get the job tasks completed
•    Self-motivated and ability to make decisions
