Summary

CNC Programmer 

Shift: Monday- Friday (1st shift)  6:30am - 3:00pm

Program CNC machine tools utilizing software on the controllers with a possibility of using Pro-Manufacturing in the future. Develop Job/Process set-up sheets and Design fixtures as required. Set up and operate the CNC Machines and related auxiliary equipment to perform a variety of production machine operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve programs and tooling for CNC machining and Turning Centers utilizing software on the controllers (possibly using Pro-Manufacturing).
  • Generate process parameter sheets (work standards and setup instructions) for new programs. Design and fabrication of work holding fixtures and special tooling as required.
  • Perform several operations such as cutoff, drill, ream, tap, turn, face, single point     thread, bore, recess, groove, chamfer, surface mill, keyway and slot to close tolerances utilizing CNC equipment.  Check own work for proper diameters, concentricity, radial, face run out, squareness and angels.  Replace dull tooling, adjust and maintain setups as necessary.
  • Work from blueprints, program instructions, specifications, verbal and/or written instructions.  Occasionally perform or assist in minor extruder and/or related recovery equipment, repair, or maintenance duties as instructed.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as indicators, micrometers, gauges, verniers and scales; lay-out tools.
  • Assist in training new employees and existing employees during cross training.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervisor. 
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or group leader.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of trades training, preferably Machinist, or CNC Programming
  • Associates degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent trade school training preferred
  • Familiar with N/C programming techniques with the ability to edit part programs
  • 3-5 years previous experience in programming, setup, and operation of CNC machines
  • Experience with Pro-Engineer and Pro-Manufacturing software preferred
  • Good knowledge of G-code required
  • General computer literacy/skills, including Microsoft office
  • Ability to utilize shop mathematics
  • Previous experience reading blueprints and precision measuring instruments to verify parts to print
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices and operation, working qualities of materials
  • Demonstrate good attendance, reliable
  • Proven safe work habits
  • Proven quality oriented
