Position Purpose

 

The Project Manger NPD will manage New Product Development (NPD) projects by following and using the NPD process. They will coordinate and control the execution of project schedules, costs, specifications, documentation, and resources associated with the project.  They will assure that the needs of key functional groups (engineering, purchasing, planning, marketing, sales, service, machinery, manufacturing) and the customer are met and satisfies a total systems approach to machine design.

As the project manager, you would lead NPD project by guiding the project team using project management skills and practices while following the NPD process and SEE/APS project methodology.  

 

  • You would provide overall project guidance and coordination of various functions within and outside the organization including maintaining frequent interchange with each functional group to identify requirements, establish project priorities, monitor progress, resolve problems, and ensure support of requirements.  Project team is comprised of representatives from all departments in the organization and sometimes external entities as well. 
  • You would provide direction and instructions to project team members.  Specifics include work assignments, progress follow-up and schedule changes as necessary.  Lead multiple projects at the same time. Report out on projects performance.
  • You would lead and support continuous improvement and development of the NPD process.  
  • You would use research tools and methods for: managing project schedules, determining project performance measures, collecting design requirements, change control, communications, verification, and validation.  
  • You would lead and support the development and improvement of project resource capacity planning.  Improve, benchmark, and implement methods for estimating and tracking resource capacity and utilization on projects.  Develop/improve how multiple projects are prioritized and scheduled.
