What does the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager do at Sealed Air?

Reporting to the Director, Global Functions within the Corporate FP&A team, the Finance Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis’ responsibility is to partner with the Global Functions (Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, Executive & Administration [E&A], Digital, Global Affairs, Facilities, Global Portfolio, Revenue Operations, and Innovation & Development) to support their financial processes.  The successful candidate will contribute to all FP&A related activities for the Global Functions including month-end close, reporting and analysis, rolling forecast, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and the multi-year Long-Range Plan (LRP).  Additionally, financial modeling for new investments on an ad-hoc basis will be a key responsibility for this role. This role will have the responsibility of managing two direct reports.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a project team environment and must be a team player with ability to influence others towards the successful completion of group objectives. The candidate must be a self-starter capable of identifying and effecting change within the organization. He/She must be skilled in recognizing and implementing process improvements and able to set priorities and create a work plan to facilitate the group’s achievement of these objectives. The ideal candidate can think critically to navigate through financial information systems, can simplify information to create clear outputs to support decision-making and propose corrective actions as necessary. 

Why we need you?

  • Ensure the integrity of the month-end close process for projects, manage expense accruals, confirm proper accounting treatment between capital and expense, process any reclasses, and interact closely with the shared services centers and procurement to maintain accurate financials.
  • Maintain internal controls and GAAP-compliant environment: address all audit requests in a timely and appropriate manner, perform reconciliations to test adherence, and raise due diligence items, as required.
  • Support monthly forecast, AOP, and STRAP processes for the other Global Functions.  Coordinate and complete updates in financial systems (OneStream, SAP).
  • Analyze variances vs. forecast, budget, and prior year.  Highlight trends and identify corrective actions and/or opportunities for cost containment.  Help drive accountability of the cost center managers through frequent interaction and review of spending to date as well as forecast.
  • Provide financial and decision support to the Global Functions and maintain excellent relationships with leadership team members to continuously improve support and service level.
  • Assist in preparing all Investment Committee (IC) review packages for projects requiring IC-level approval – establish project financials, validate business case, and prepare an executive summary.
  • Manage activities of direct reports by delegating tasks, setting deadlines and priorities, and ensuring the successful completion of all goals.
  • Ensure continued development of direct reports by providing training and coaching, listening to feedback, resolving issues, and motivating employees to grow within and beyond current roles.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements across all financial processes, focusing on process automation and other repeatable, scalable efficiency efforts.
  • Provide global Sales and Margin reporting out of SAP, BIA, and Power BI for Global Portfolio and Revenue Operations teams.
  • Develop and implement Power BI reports and other automated financial tools to provide Global Functions’ leadership teams with additional insights that better inform decision-making.
  • Actively problem-solve to develop analytical approaches to answer queries on time.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Studies in finance or a related field.
  • Solid knowledge of business concepts, accounting principles, and strong analytical skills
  • An advanced level of English is mandatory.
  • Experience, preferably in a multi-national, manufacturing setting.
  • In depth understanding of products and margin performance of a manufacturing business.
  • Experienced user of SAP, BIA / B4P / HANA, and OneStream (or similar, e.g., Hyperion)
  • Strong modelling skills using Excel, VBA, or Power Query
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus
  • Studies in finance or a related field.
